Charismatic Connection#425: Can You Transcend Cultural Roles?

We have inherited the way women should act and the way men should.Although we live in the 21st- century and there are more freedoms for women than any other time in history. As a society, we expect certain expectations from men and women.

Men are supposed to be assertive, rational and the money maker.Women are supposed to be of a nurturing nature, more intuitive and feeling.

However, I can argue that while the majority (but not all) women are in touch with their feelings, women are raised in our patriarchal world where our rational mind dominates.So, women can be intuitive but more than likely they are not listening to that wisdom.

There are men who are in touch with their feelings and intuitive wisdom but lack the confidence to show that side to the outside world.

How can men and woman transcend the norm?

In her book, The Aquarian Conspiracy, Marilyn Ferguson says, according to very old wisdom, self-discovery inevitably involves the awakening of the traits usually associated with the opposite sex.

Last week I was watching the TV show Blue Bloods.I heard a fabulous statement that I have to share with you.It goes like this...
Life is a series of adventures launching from a secure base.

The show was talking about your home is the secure base and you go out each day to an adventure.However, I feel you can take the statement as the person is the secure base and the person goes on  adventures during life.

Either way the feeling of being safe is paramount.The number 1 responsibility parents have is to provide safety for their children.

"Both Mother and Father should be bonding with their young to provide for the child's NEED to feel safe, secure and protected."-Serena Jade

When this simple yet elusive trait has been accomplished, the children are now operating from a secure base and can launch their series of adventures.

Charismatic Connection#416: Did You See Cloud Atlas?

This past weekend I experienced Cloud Atlas.The film interweaves six stories taking you into the past to the present and then to the future. 

The movie shows how souls in one lifetime reincarnate and meet again in another lifetime.The story takes the viewer on a journey to witness the soul reincarnating in different bodies.Therefore one can "see" we can come back as any race, creed or gender.

Charismatic Connection#414:Do You Know about The Two Worlds of Jennie Logan?

The Two Worlds of Jennie Logan was a made for TV movie in 1979. This movie had such a deep impact on me. I just recently viewed this film on youtube.

For the past 33 years, I have been trying to get my hands on a copy. So, when I finally watched this movie again, I was astonished. I had only remembered the ending and did not realize the depth of the story.

Lindsey Wagner (Bionic woman) plays a woman who caught her husband cheating, so they decide to start over. They buy an old house which I believe is supposed to be in upper Westchester, New York. The woman finds an old wedding dress and as she puts it on, immediately she is transported to another era.

She finds herself in the late 1800's and is in love with a man who she is going to marry. The woman goes back and forth between the two time periods.

The woman asks her lover in the 1800's... Do you believe in immortality? 

The woman asks her therapist in the 20th century... What is reality? Is it possible to break the barriers of time and space? What do we know about the universe? What do we know about time or infinity?

When I saw this uploaded version of the movie last week, I was amazed because I did not consciously remember the dialogue.

Do you remember the TV show Everyone Loves Raymond?

The popular comedy of Ray Romano's life is fictionally based in Long Island, New York.Lynbrook is where Ray lives with his wife Debra.Ray's narcissistic mother and crude father live across the street from Ray. 

I lived in Lynbrook years ago and I grew up in Oceanside, a few minutes from this charming town.Lynbrook has been mentioned numerous times on the show. In the show, Ray frequently visits a pizza restaurant named Nemos and is friends with the waitress Angelina.Nemos is actually a sporting goods store in Oceanside and Angelina's is a well-known pizza restaurant in Lynbrook.The next time you watch Everyone Loves Raymond, know that Lynbrook is an actual town on Long Island!

Charismatic Connection#400: Would You Like to Live on a Great Gatsby Estate?

In the F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, Sands Point, Long Island, New York (above) is referred to as East Egg.

The mansion above is called Falaise meaning "cliff" in French, the castle overlooks the Long Island Sound (below).

Daniel Guggenheim bought Falaise in 1917 and gave his son Harry the estate as a wedding present in the year 1923.Harry and his wife Caroline would have a few years of happiness in their French styled eclectic house until their divorce.Harry married Alicia Patterson in 1939 and established Newsday, the Long Island's daily newspaper.

Harry Guggenheim raised and raced his own thoroughbreds.A Limestone stable was built on the grounds of Falaise.An avid horse racing fan, Harry was one of the people who founded the New York Racing Association!
