The painting involves a Satyr, the Roman and Greek mythological wild spirit of the woods. Three-quarters man, a quarter goat, this Satyr is probably fascinated by the naked Nymphs.

Nymphs are nature spirits in Greek mythology as they infuse the forest with good energy. In this painting, the Nymphs have caught the wild Satyr.
