Parenthood is a TV show based upon the hit 1989 movie of the same name. I love the film and I love the show.
The premise of both the movie and show is based upon a family and their kids and grandkids. Once you watch this drama you Will be caught up in their lives. It is true to life with down to earth issues.
In one episode, one couple were having a disagreement about their child acting in the school play. The husband seeing his child was nervous about his lines, wanted him to continue and not just give up. The wife wanted to protect her son and said," It was okay to quit."
The husband originally agreed with his wife. But, when the husband talked to his father, the father said," He should not give up." The father said," Who wears the pants in the family." The husband then said," What is this the 1950's, this is a partnership."
After the conversation with his father, the husband confronts his wife stating he wants his son to participate in the play.Needless to say the boy was nervous but he performed his lines and was grateful that he did it.
I feel that was a perfect scenario about who dominates in a relationship. The key is to have a true partnership where each of us leads and each of us follows.
